Karvyn 3D is a product design and development firm. We take complex hardware problems — across industrial, research, and emerging technology sectors — and engineer them into physical products through precision CAD, electronics, and advanced manufacturing.

What we do

Engineering hardware from idea to production.

We don't specialise in a single stage of product development. From early concept and CAD engineering through to electronics integration, physical prototyping, and low-volume manufacturing — we run the full path. That means a single point of accountability from the first sketch to the finished product in your hands.

Modern neuroscience demands instruments that account for exact morphology and electromagnetic constraints without compromise.

Adapting general-purpose equipment introduces variability and forces researchers to spend time on engineering workarounds rather than actual research.

Design & Engineering

Juvenile animals, non-standard species, and morphologically variable subjects require instruments sized and shaped to them — not to the average rodent a manufacturer imagined.

Rapid Prototyping

Physical prototypes built fast, in the right material for the application. Advanced FDM manufacturing across engineering-grade polymers — PETG, TPU, ASA, PETG-CF — with real tolerances and real performance characteristics.

Low-Volume Manufacturing

Beyond the prototype. We produce small production runs with consistent quality — without the tooling costs or minimum order quantities that conventional manufacturing demands. Right-sized for the stage your product is at.

Each instrument begins as a research problem. We engineer the solution, test it alongside active researchers, and deliver a lab-ready product.

Sectors

Where we work,
and where we're headed.

Our engineering capability doesn't change by industry. What changes is the problem. We currently serve two sectors actively, and are building depth toward three more.

PRIMARY FOCUS

Industrial & Automation

Custom jigs, fixtures, tooling inserts, enclosures, and precision mechanical components for manufacturing and automation environments. Where exact-fit, low-volume hardware requirements fall between standard catalogue parts and full-scale tooling investment — Karvyn 3D fills that gap. Fast turnaround, real engineering.

PRIMARY FOCUS

Research & EdTech Hardware

Precision instruments for neuroscience, behavioural research, and technical education — where experimental validity demands hardware engineered to the exact protocol, species, and environment. This is where Karvyn 3D's capabilities were proven, and where our deepest application knowledge sits.

EXPANDING INTO

MedTech

Assistive devices, clinical tools, and precision medical hardware requiring exacting material selection, dimensional accuracy, and design for regulatory consideration. Our material engineering background and precision manufacturing capability make this a natural expansion.

EXPANDING INTO

Robotics & Embedded Systems

Custom actuator mounts, sensor housings, control enclosures, and electronics-integrated structural components for robotics applications. Our ESP32-based embedded systems work and mechatronics experience translates directly to this space.

EXPANDING INTO

Aerospace & UAV Systems

Lightweight structural components, mount fixtures, and assembly tooling for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and satellite payloads. Vetting materials for temperature stability and strength-to-weight performance.

Capabilities

The technical stack behind every build.

Each project draws from a set of capabilities that have been developed and proven across real client work. We don't subcontract the hard parts.

Mechanical

CAD & Parametric Engineering

Full 3D mechanical design in Autodesk Fusion 360 and FreeCAD. Parametric models built for variant families, toleranced for manufacturing, and structured for iteration.

Material Engineering & Selection

Material choice is an engineering decision, not a default. We characterise and select polymers for the specific demands of each application — mechanical load, chemical exposure, temperature, or regulatory environment.

How We Work

A clear path from problem to product.

Every engagement runs through the same disciplined process — whether it starts from a napkin sketch or an engineering brief.

01

Engineering Brief

We take the problem — not just the spec. Function, environment, constraints, and production intent all inform the brief. We ask the questions that shape the right design before any CAD work begins.

02

Design & Architecture

Mechanical design, material selection, and electronics architecture developed in parallel. Fusion 360 models built parametrically for variant flexibility. Design decisions documented for manufacturing traceability.

03

Prototype & Validate

Physical prototypes in final or representative materials. Performance tested against the brief. Iteration is expected — we build that into the timeline, not around it.

04

Refine & Lock

Design locked based on validated prototype data. Manufacturing files prepared, tolerances confirmed, and production process characterised before any volume is committed.

Deliver

Finished product — whether a single validated prototype or a low-volume production run — delivered ready to use. No handoff chaos. What we engineered is what you receive.
